Innovation Lab Director, Smart City Initiative
Digital Kitchener Civic Innovation Lab
My experience has taken me all over the world and seen me manage innovation, development, interactive, design, & marketing teams as well as innovation practices and processes. My expertise is geared around facilitating, design thinking, building and executing new products, launches, technology & media strategies. I have been in the position of being trusted to launch two incredibly successful innovation programs for two very different organizations.
I lead the Digital Kitchener Innovation Lab for the City of Kitchener. Canada's first IoT Focussed Municipal Innovation Lab to address civic challenges. A core mandate of the lab is to leverage the opportunities that a $10M investment in its city-wide MESH network present. I sit on the Waterloo Region application for the Smart City Challenge which is shortlisted in the $50M category (Infrastructure Canada, Smart Cities Challenge).
Prior to the City I setup and led the Innovation Outpost for Postmedia, Canada’s largest news media company, housing brands as the National Post, Financial Post, Calgary Herald & Canada.com. I served as Director of Marketing & Digital products at Cober. Before its acquisition, we brought CuteGecko Inc. from Australia to Canada in 2009 where our work gained respect and garnered top-tier clients including The Government of Canada, Google & many more.
